Keeping the computer on

Hi,

Is there any body that can tell me waht is up with my
mates computer he is running 98 and when the computer is
switched on it is alright for 5 mins the it just frezzes
and thick black lines come across the screen.

You're asking the wrong newsgroup, this one is for W2K related questions.

For the sake of possibly offering a direction to send you in, black lines
accross the screen on a freeze may denote a failing memory problem on the
video adapter. It could also indicate overheating at CPU or video's embedded
processor (if any). Check your cooling fans for proper operation.
