Keeping passwords for various internet sites

My Windows XP will keep my passwords to the various internet sites and
groups that I use which require passwords. But .... when I clear out
the Cookies or the Cache to get rid of accumulated junk, those
passwords also vanish for good.

To try to keep a readily available list, I've sent myself an e-mail
that lists all the passwords I use. -- But isn't there some software
or something that will preserve the passwords in my PC even if I clean
out the junk files??
