When I type -1234 at end of a sentence, the "negative" sign stays on the
first line, but the number wraps to the second.

How do I keep them together without having to hard return?

Thanks!

Use a minus sign (Unicode character 2212) instead of a hyphen.
Alternatively, you can use a nonbreaking hyphen (Ctrl+Shift+Hyphen).
