I can set a property for paragraphs, "keep with next". Is there any way I can
"keep with previous"?
"keep with previous"?
I can understand the thinking that has prevented implementation of this.
It's bad enough if you apply "Keep with next" to too many paragraphs in
succession, and I suspect the developers have visions of even worse
consequences if a "Keep with previous" were introduced. But certainly a lot
of WP migrants, used to being able to use Block Protect to keep selected
lines together (*any* selected lines, from the same or different
paragraphs), see a huge deficiency in Word in this regard.

Hmm, well that makes me say shucky darns.I figured out a workaround by creating another couple of styles and
chaining
them together with Keep Next, but I don't really like the solution as it
mandates the user understanding they have to apply THIS style in THIS
case.
Soon they'll never remember.Oh well, I suppose this way is "better". Thanks for the reply.

I've been trying to remember what it was I used Keep with Previous for
in FrameMaker, but it was very useful and couldn't be duplicated in
Word.

I've been reading this thread and I still don't understand why/how "Keep
with next" is so much different. If I wanted to keep the signature block
with the last paragraph, I'd set the last paragraph as Keep with next. One
way or the other, you have to select a paragraph and set it.
Not arguing - just curious.

Suzanne S. Barnhill said:You don't always know which paragraph will be the last. For example, you
might create a letter template that contained the signature block and a
single empty text paragraph. You can't format that paragraph as KWN, so
you have to depend on the user to format the last paragraph as KWN. This
would not be necessary if you could format the Complimentary Close as KWP.
