keep text together

I would like to keep text together, i.e., Dr. Jones. In WordPerfect you can
have a required space - can you do that in Word? Thanks for your help.
 
Actually, Ctrl+Spacebar is the ResetChar command. Ctrl+Shift+Spacebar
inserts a nonbreaking space.

I apologize to you both. I thought I had used this feature just a few days
before (a WordPerfect habit); it seemed to work (probably some coincidence
of formatting) so I jumped in and foolishly opened my mouth without really
checking. I should know better. I'm still a fledgling Word learner
transiting from WordPerfect, but I know and appreciate the reputation of Ms.
Barnhill (and her tactful correction!).
