keep losing browser

I don't know why my browser firefox 1.05.01 drops out soon after loading the
homepage. I uninstalled then re-installed it with no result. I can get
back on the web using ie6 which doesn't seem to have any apparent problems,
but I would like my usual browser and all my bookmarks back.

I can now say the following happens when I use ie6 as well as Firefox so any
suggestions would be most welcome.
