Hi,

I had sometime back setup a ICS between my win2k and winXP machines,
and remember had given the ip of 192.168.100.2 to my XP machine. That
was a year back.

Right now I got a new broadband connection, and trying to set it up on
my XP machine.

However, whenever the machine boots, it automatically assigns itself
the 192... I tried
ipconfig /release followed by ipconfig /renew - but I still keep
getting the 192... address. Can anyone help me to get rid of this
static ip I keep getting?

I already checked the properties of my Local Area Connection and it has
no ip's in it - obtain IP automatically and obtain DNS automatically.
So why the hell I keep getting the same IP again and again.

Also when I checked my registry, the 192.... IP is still in there at
several places...

Any help is appreciated...

It is entirely normal for a DHCP server to give the same IPA time and
time again; not a static IPA, just a somewhat sticky IPA.

So, do you have a real problem?
