KB936181 won't Install

My PC to set to automatically Download Windows Updates. I have now gotten
the SAME Update 5 or 6 times (each time I proceed to let the update Install).
The update 1st appeared Yesterday 11/12....... The Update is "Security
Update for Microsoft XLM Core Services 4.0, Service Pack 2 (KB936181)."

Is there a known problem for this Update? How do I stop it from
re-occurring? After I complete an Install the Download Ready Sheild does go
away....but it comes back within 5 to 10 mins (and its showing right now in
my Taskbar).

I reviewed the Microsoftsoft article 936181 released 9/27/07... The steps
to take to correct this problem is too involved for my level of expertise.
Will there be a Fix sent out by Microsoft? Is there an easier way to correct
this Problem.

First run disk clean up on your system, then go to the windows update site
and run the updates, when you prompted to select or click Express or Custom,
please select Custom install and there check the history of the updates it
will show you which success and which failed.
Then uncheck the Microsoft XLM Core Services 4.0 (both by expanding the
Plus sign you will see a sub-check box clear this too to not show this update
again.
Click Install and let it finish and refresh the page after that.
Close the IE page and Reboot your machine does the Shield appear again.

Followed your Instructions....History shows KB936181 Installed Sucessfully 5
times!!!! 3 Times yesterday, twice today. I am sure in an effort to get rid
of the Update Notification Sheild I tried to install the Update at least 5
times. Ran Custom....it showed 3 Updates, one of which WAS the KB936181 XLM
Core Service 4.0. I expanded this Update, unchecked all. Ran
Update...refershed page...re-booted my PC....the Update Sheild is still
there.

Ok, try this:
Open the Windows Explorer and locate this path:
C:\Windows|SoftwareDistribution = look in the right pane/window and delete
all folders there (update/download/selfupdate/websetup)..etc.
Run disk clean up again and while there, shrink the directories until you
get your Primary partition (C:\), right click and select properties.
Click on Tools Tab then click on Check Disk, a pop-up will come, check both
boxes, then click [OK] Then [Yes] to run checkdsk on start up and Reboot your
machine.
Pay a visit to the site again, make sure you uncheck this box:
[ ] Microsoft XLM Core Services 4.0(KB936181) <= Uncheck this
Sise...
Blah,..........
[ ] Never show this update again <= Sorry, Check this box for
windows to not Show this update. Too late here, sleepy <G>.
Reboot your machine, is there is any difference.
HTH.
