I am getting the following Blue Screen when connecting a USB Flash Drive:
NO_MORE_IRP_STACK_LOCATIONS

followed by the following Stop error:
STOP: 0x00000035

A search of the MS support site turned up the above mentioned article
number. I contacted MS and was sent a HotFix. The HotFix was supposed to
create the following value
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Mup\Parameters\DfsIrpStackSize

The hotfix did not create it. I would like to know if creating this manually
will work and if so what type of value is it supposed to be (i.e. string,
DWORD, binary, etc...)

I contacted MS support and they would not help me without me giving them
money for to resolve a known problem with their OS.

Any help you all could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Wesley,

This did not work. I still receive the above stop error when I connect
a USB flash drive. Do you know if the value mentioned above
(DfsIrpStackSize) is supposed to ba a REG_DWORD as well?

Here is a little more info in case it helps. The machine is part of a
domain and is running McAfee Anti-Virus and Desktop Firewall. This only
appears to be a problem on the workstations which are running both of
these applications. I have removed the personal firewall and I am still
getting the same error.

Thanks for stating the obvious, considering the title of this thread.

My error - apologies.

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=906866 is the only reference that I can
find to DfsIrpStackSize and it doesn't say.

I have SP1a so I have NFI.

My
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Mup\Parameters
key has (value not set)

Hope this helps. Let us know.

Hi Ethan

I have exactly the same problem after joining a XP Pro machine to a
domain.

I think the hotfix installs a new mup.sys and then you have to
add/modify the parameter.

I asked microsoft for the hotfix but not recieved it yet. If you could
publish it or e-mail it to me I would be grateful

Thanks
Michael
