KB842773 Update

Until a few weeks ago I was able to easily update my
Windows XP Pro system. But now the new updates won't
install. I just went back and see there is new Windows
Update software which I downloaded. In order to use it I
get a messaeg that further updates must be applied. It
tries to download and install Update KB842773 BITS v 2.0
and WinHTTP 5.1 These download but no matter how many
times I try the installation fails. Any ideas?

Also, I should add that I tried downloading the
individual KB842773 Download and running it. The program
started and it said that it was inspecting my current
configuration and the hard drive light was on and the HD
spin ning but no progress on the progress bar. Then I
got a Setup Error that said "Setup could not verify the
integrity of the file Update.inf. Make sure the
cryptographic service is running on this computer. I
should also add that nonetheless I was able to do an
Office 2003 Update.

Any help appreciated.

I just serached my computer including hidden files and
folders for a file "Update.inf" and there does not appear
to be any such file on my computer.

Help?
