These two security patches are causing BSODs on two of my machines. I
verified it by removing them from Safe Mode and trying it several times
over.

After searching for answers to this problem I found this site
http://techrepublic.com.com/5208-6230-0.html?forumID=89&threadID=162695&start=0
discussing the same exact problem. Our machines do have SAV 9.0
installed and it may be part of the problem. Does Microsoft have an
answer to this problem? I can't remove SAV because it is required by
the government installation we are on so I need some help to get these
machines patched.

If you suspect SAV9.0 to be the problem your better off to check with them
for a fix as MS would not have a fix for a 3rd party vendor.

Thanks for your input. Symantec website says this:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2002071208532048?Open&src=w
They point to the Intel Ultra ATA drivers. I may uninstall them and
go with the Windows native ones or update to the Intel Accelerator.

Also here is another site discussing the same problem:

Which would you try first, The Intel ATA driver or
uninstalling/disabling SAV?
I have uninstalled the Intel ATA driver and the MS Security patches have
installed without BSODs now. I guess I will stay with the generic
Microsoft ones.
