In the list of updates, under installed to my machine, KB824146 shows as a
failed installation. When I run updates, it does not show as a critical, or
recommended update. I went to KB and typed in the number, it showed no
results for that number.

Does anyone know what this update is and why I may have the results I have
listed?

is "MS03-039: A Buffer Overrun in RPCSS Could Allow an Attacker to Run
Malicious Programs". You really want this one installed. Check your file
versions against those in the article in the link above. If they do not match,
download the update from Microsoft's download center (link is in the article in
the link above) and install it by running the exe file.
