K8V XP Promise SATA 64 drivers

Has anybody had any luck getting the 64bit XP running on the K8V board with
a SATA drive on the Promise controller ?

I have a "Promise FastTrak 378/TX4000/S150 TX Series (tm) Controller
(AMD64)" driver, but I think the FastTrak is the RAID driver and it doesn't
seem to want to work with a single drive.

I've had absolutely NO luck getting ANYTHING to run with XP-64. No
network, no sound, etc. Nothing that's on the included driver CD will
work and, yes, I have gone to planet 64 and downloaded the network
drivers, etc. none of which seem to work?

I'm VERY tempted to send back the board and chip and install DOS 5.0 on
a 386DX-25 system, I know that works.

I tried them too but I think the driver is for RAID (fasttrack). I have it
set for SATA. I had XP64 running on a PATA drive.

Well I'm having a bit more luck since yesterday. SuSE 9.0 x86_64 works fine,
but without sound. Fedora Core 2 (test) has the sata_promise drivers but
I'll have to wait for the x86_64 port. I just stuck in a Realtek 8139 and if
I really needed sound I guess I could find a standard PCI sound card.
However, I refuse to give up my SATA drive for an PATA. That is the big
stumbling block to getting 64bit processing. That and apps.

There isn't a Windows SATA driver so WinXP-64/2003-64 will have to wait.
There is no doubt that the 32bit o/s work just fine so I'll keep my board
and dual boot until the drivers and apps start coming.

I'm not concerned with any drivers other than the network, if I can get
onto the internet I can find other drivers, since I can't my only
option is to run my other harddrive with XP-32 bit. My LAN is the
Marvell 88E8001 Gigabit LAN controller and the drivers from Planet 64
which others seem to use with some success (???) absolutely will not
install on my system.

Did you find a LAN driver that worked? Where? What LAN do you have?
Any help would be appreciated...

I abandoned the onboard NIC (turned it off) and stuck in a generic PCI
Realtek 8139. All the Linux versions (x86_64 included) seem to have the
drivers for it. I don't have XP64 on it any more because of the SATA
problem. I'll see if I can find an old IDE drive and install the XP64 to
check the Realtek.

Just a follow up. I installed Win2003 64 Server on an ATA on my K8V with the
PCI Realtek NIC. It has drivers for everything except sound, printer and the
RAID devices ? I think it thinks my Promise in SATA mode is a RAID, and of
course it doesn't have the drivers. It even had a driver for my nVidia 5200
FX card - bonus. So I think if you can find a NIC that XP has drivers for,
it will work. The onboard NIC is too exotic/rare/obscure or whatever. SATA
has been out for a while though. Go figure eh.

WOW! YOU CHEATED! <BSEG> Unfortunately, I don't have a spare NIC
lying around, I sold it with my last MB dang it!
