K8V BSOD Win ac'97 Audio

I have a machine I am trying to install the latest Win AC'97 Audio
Drivers/Codec onto.
the system:
K8V Deluxe Md (Bios Updated to 1011d)
Win XP SP2
Win AC'097 (v3.76 the latest)

Win XP installs fine, as did all other software. Only when I get to
installing Win AC'97 do I get the BSOD (nor at any other time over a
period of a week). Just near the end of the installation, the BSOD
appears referencing the portcls.sys driver.

Thanks

There are "SoundMax" drivers here, from Analog Devices for the AD1980.
A typical version number would be 3663. This is what I would try.

It sounds like you are trying to use a RealTek driver. These are
more appropriate for a RealTek Codec.

It is true that the RealTek driver can be used with a number of other
AC'97 devices, as the standard registers might allow 2 channel operation
without too many issues. But using a ReakTek driver sometimes requires
a hack to get working properly, and that may be what is required in
your case.

Thanks Paul,
I was putting the wrong drivers on. The RealTek driver was for my Asus
A8V MB, and I had assumed that they both took the same.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
