Just say "no" to Vista

“Vista is an upsell masquerading as an upgrade. It is an overall
regression when you look at the most important aspect of owning and
using a computer: your control over what it does. Obviously MS Windows
is already proprietary and very restrictive, and *well worth rejecting*.
But the new *'features' in Vista are a Trojan Horse* to smuggle in even
more restrictions. We'll be focusing attention on detailing how they
work, how to resist them, and why people should careâ€,

I'm all about your right to say whatever you want.
Go for it.

However - could you hone your spamming method of
advertising by learning to cross-post? Seeing this
same thread over-and-over - sometimes with slightly
different subject lines - always unread because you
multi-posted instead is just annoying to me.

It does not want to make me visit your web page or
read the slant you have taken on any web page, but leads
me to believe you are nothing more than a spammer.

Doesn't matter if that is fact or fiction...
It's an impression - just like one would get when watching
late night TV and seeing some of the ads for some of the
ridiculous products and get-rich quick schemes. In other
words - it doesn't shine the most positive light on
whatever message you may be trying to spread.

I am *not* attacking your message. Go for it.

I may not agree with your language or the extremeness of
some of your politics - but I am grateful I don't - or
how boring would this life be?

Mac has a new commercial that's straight out of a VISTA reply I made about a week ago.

my reply to the 'Vista Evaluation: Think again' post
Nero 6.6[$150.00 flush], and hundreds of other things.

Nero cost much less than $150. Is that US $ ? I've never seen it cost that
much. The full electronic download price of the new (and Vista ready)
version is $60. And upgraders save more. I don't know if Nero 6.x worksor
not with Vista.
6.6 $75.00 Flush. New Nero 7 $75.00. Flush.

I consider buying something that is no better than the previous version a waste of money.
As for the ATI. I'm a long time ATI user. They've finally crapped up every software version for the ATI 9800. Including the original which is the LEAST troublesome. And the version I use. The last version is ALWAYS recording and didn't have an off switch. And it's still just as buggy as every previous ATI update. That's the 'compatible' vista version.

I was sure my P4 hyper 3.2 ghz 1 gig ram 500 gigs of HD space was more than adequate for Vista. I ran the checker just to see how much M$ had out distanced the software on it.

And what it said is that everything must go to use an OS that comes witha worthless web browser. I tried ie7. It was full of bugs, They had the bug reporting section at M$ with more than 150 pages of 50 UNIQUE bugs per page. I found one that totally annoyed me, the guillotine bug that was NOT going to get fixed. I think it also said my Trend micro 2006 Virus software had to go. Removing ie7 failed cause it kept the bugs and reinstalled them in ie6. I had to reinstall the XP OS to get back to normal.

Can you imagine dumping your 2006 car, because the 2007 wheel rims won'tfit ?
That's what Vista is asking. Throw out your old machine and get a new one so you can use our new OS.

What did MAC do, they trotted some guy [PC] out in a hospital gown, socksand shoes talking to some kid [Mac] about 'everything must go'. Then thekid 'Mac' tsk, tsk, what a shame.
