Have a peep at this, think it'll explain all-:
http://www.auditmypc.com/port/tcp-port-1029.asp clicking this link
will open it in a new window.
.... and don't rely on Windows firewall, about as useful has a barn
door with broken hinges.

wow, you're a mug, that link is a joke. I saw it actually when I tried
to find out what the port did.
Let's analyse what that link says
"TCP Port 1029 may use a defined protocol to communicate depending on
the application. A protocol is a set of formalized rules that explains
how data is communicated over a network. Think of it as the language
spoken between computers to help them communicate more efficiently."
whoopy!!
now I know. It uses a protocol. It even tells me what a protocol is.
Incase I didn't know.
Now, GCSE English question. What audience is this site is written for?
Ooh, some more information it gives now regarding port 1029
"Protocol/Name ICQNuke98"
Not likely!!!!
It's a fresh windows installation. And no malicious server would be
dumb enough to listen on 127.0.0.1 (because no other computer could
connect to it).
IANA list port 1029 as "Solid Mux Server" but I don't have that.
I repeat this is a fresh windows installation.
No mugs need respond, unless they have questions!
I'm, intrigued. Who told you that the windows firewall is useless?
"Mr Stealth" Steve Gibson?
if you figured it out yourself, then why do you think it's useless?
Microsoft has not ever released a security update for it, because it
has not been broken! Now, it does have issues, but it does its job
blocking incoming. That's the important thing.
