I have now done it twice on my laptop where I use only the windowsupdate.com website...

And at home I have installed it 5 times and still both windowsupdate.com and the automatic
system upgrade function of win2kpro want to update my system again!

Is it showing up as being actually installed under winnt dir or in
add/remove programs?
If installed, what if you un-install it, disable AV, then install it again,
do you still get the same msg?
Are there other updates that it says need to be installed as well that
aren't yet?

Don't know if this will apply at all but wanted to include just in case;

In the control panel Add/Remove programs I do not find KB832483, but do find many others.

In windowsupdate.microsoft.com "View installation history" I find it listed multiple times, sometimes
from source website and sometimes form active update (or something like that, I'm not looking at
that screen right now).

I hesitate to uninstall any system updates because the uninstaller is often meant to be used only right
after the installation. If other things have been updated afterwards I assume there is a danger of
conflicts. I don't mind installing software over and over.

I believe that Microsoft said that this patch cannot be uninstalled, so I
would not expect to find it in add | remove programs. I have seen other
complaints like yours, but have not seen anything official from MSFT about
it. After Q824145 broke normal scrolling in IE, I have been very wary of
applying any fixes until I get some feedback from others about bugs and
unwanted features.

So that was the one that broke it - I keep wonder when they will fix it
again!
