Hi again
If anyone at all has any suggestion on what might help me please let me
know, ive been sent to one site to another and still no one either bothers to
help me or just has no idea.

I had the about:blank and i ran every single program that every person told
me from ad aware to spybot destroy to cwshredder and then i ran the programs
to fix my internet connection if this virus had harmed it.
The about:blank killed my norton therefore i dont have norton a nymore, it
killed me connecting to any servers (in which i couldnt update anything) it
also killed my web pages.
I managed to be able to fix it to the point of being able to connect to
servers but i can not load NOT ONE WEB PAGE. All i get time after time after
time (enough to make me go completely insane) is the "this page can not be
displayed" error no matter what i try to look at.
I can not search my computer (to ensure my hosts are correct) because my
search engine (start~search) does not work (along with many things but i will
fix them later i hope.

Im honestly at the stage of just giving up and throwin gmy computer away 2
damn weeks i have tried to fix this - yes i have had progress very very slow
progress :(
ppl keep telling me to scan this or scan that but i cant see a webpage to
download anything all i can do is download to disc from work (where i am now)
and install it that way and not everything works that way!!
Ive also been told to search my computer for this or that but my search
engine has decided to kick the bucket

any help or another forum that might be able to help me would be appreciated
in sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many ways

thanks guys!!

Sometimes when things are impossible to fix - It's time for a clean install
of XP. You will have to backup any important data before doing the clean
install. Also make sure you have all the drivers needed for Video, Sound,
Motherboard etc.

At what point during the past two weeks did you cross the line where it
would have been better to reinstall the operating system?

Many, many people will give advice, do this or do that, but it's not THEIR
time spent and wasted. When you cross the line, and only you know when you
have done that, it is time to do a format/install; i.e. - clear off all the
old crap and start fresh.

If you want help doing that, please post back. It will solve your problems!

Hello Aussie ,
OK. Where to start? First af all relax, your computer is not going to
die. You just need to stop deleting everything. If your CD will not boot,
and if you have only the Up-grade version of XP (do you have the full version
?) or do you have a factory restore CD or CD's. Telling you to do a repair
install is no good if you don't know how or what to repair. You need to
reinstall or restore back to factory settings.
We need to get that CD to boot. Do you know how to enable "Auto Play" on a
CD drive? It is worth trying. If not post back and we can take it from
there. Some computers do not support starting from a CD. Do you know if yours
does? This is why I always recomend getting the Full Version to home users.

No wonder you are confused.... Hang tough we will get it!

Hi,

There are a dozen online spyware
offerings, and several antivirus
websites, that allow you to run their
programs from their websites.
Some of them plant their own
spyware, but most don't harm your
computer.
That's first.

Read this newsgroup, and filter it
for messages that seem related to your
problem.

You're not being specific enough,
about what might be the problem, for
anyone to make some sort of useful
guess, but run defrag a lot, and run
chkdsk a couple of times.

SFC.EXE /SCANNOW
This seems like magic; but it can
do harm too.

Better luck,
Ken .

Well said! I agree, re-install.

Sometimes you have to burn that bridge and not look back.

How specfic do you want her to be? Not that it really matters, going by
her last post? She can't get her CD to boot. I thought she was very clear
.. I see you post this answer a lot. May I ask what certs you have Ken?
Thanks , Ron J
