Junk E-mail folder stays in bold even after all messages marked as read

Whenever the Outlook 2003 spam filter sends a junk email into the Junk
E-mail folder, rather annoyingly the Junk E-mail folder goes bold. Even more
annoyingly if I right-click and select "mark all as read", the folder still
stays bold. How can I make the Junk E-mail folder stop showing as bold?

What happens after you empty the Junk E-mail folder?

The folder is no longer highlighted in bold after I empty the Junk E-mail
folder. When new junk comes in again, it goes bold.

That's normal and you can't get rid of this behavior.

Previously, when I marked "all messages as read", then the text stopped
being bold.

Right-Click on the Junk-E-Mail folder | Properties

There you can switch the view of the folder:

Either that only all unread messages will be displayed, or that all
mails in the folder. If you are using the first option, the folder will
not highlighted in bold, when all messages in this folder are marked as
read.
