Hi All
I had a Word document that I created for a friend and he accidentally saved
it as a JPEG. Now I can view it but can't edit the text or make changes.
Does anyone know how to change it back to a Word Document? I tried to save it
so it would open in Word but it didn't work.
Thank you,

A jpeg is a graphical image - like a photograph! Word has no in built
function to do this, so it is difficult to see how he 'accidentally' saved
it as a jpeg. Whatever method he used to create a jpeg (eg printing to
SnagIt) would leave the original document.

Word has no ability to open jpeg files either. You can insert them (like a
picture) bit that's about it. If you can open the file in Word, something
else has occurred.

The only way to change a jpeg document back to a Word document would be to
use OCR software.

Hi Graham

Thank you for your help. What is OCR software? Optical something something?

Optical Character Reading - it converts images of text to text ... in
theory :)

Per what Graham and Suzanne said, but adding... do you have the Office
Suite with OneNote? - as, IIRC, OneNote has OCR functionality.
