Jonathan Kay [MVP] - Please help

M

Mike

I don't normally post FAO of one person but can't find
the information i'm looking for.

I just had to re-install windows (don't ask why) anyway,
before I had it set that windows messenger was not
installed. Also that the messenger Icon on the IE toolbar
link to MSN messenger 6.1.

I know this was done with 2 different commands entered
into the "run" box but can't find them. I know you
(Jonathan) posted them in response to other questions can
you please re-post them.

Greetings Mike,

To fully reinstall Windows Messenger, close down Messenger if it's running (right click the
messenger icon in the notification area/system tray and click close). Then click the start
button, then click Run and type in (copy-paste if you like):
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Then click OK.
Messenger will then be uninstalled. For more detailed instructions and screenshots, go to,

To add MSN Messenger 6.x, to the IE toolbar, just download and run the following .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/msn6_ietoolbar.reg

You'll need to close and reopen Internet Explorer to see the change. Also to add, you'll
need to the edit the file in notepad and change the drive letter if your MSN Messenger is
not located in C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger.

That should do it =)
