Hi, my old hard disk has a virus - joke.hikaru in the _restore folder. It was running on win ME initially. Recently, i bought a new hard disk and install XP in it and set the old hard disk to boot as slave. So now, my norton antivirus detected this joke.hikaru, but can deleted it. How come? I have already disable system restore on all hard disks

Hi Elsie,

Disable System Restore then run the cleaner again (from Symantec, etc) in
safe mode. Norton only removes the files not the registry keys.

Elsie, that is because the _restore folder was created by Windows Me, not XP. Try to delete the folder through Explorer.

Turning off System Restore in XP deletes the information in the "System Volume Information" folders only.
