Jet problem?

Not sure if this a question for the Forms Ng, but anyway...I'm getting the
following message on trying to open an Access 2000 db. I've searched
Microsoft's site and have found the following article, which doesn't appear
to relate to the problem with our db at all as there are no SQL
server-linked tables at all:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;318882&Product=acc2000

The error:

'The microsoft jet database stopped the process because you and another user
are attempting to vhange the same data at the same time".

Has anyone else ever seen this error and is there anything I can do to
reslove it?

TIA

Hi

Make sure that your Default Locking is set to Edited Record and that the
Default Open Mode is set to Shared.

Thanks for the posting Maurice.

Maybe I should've exlained that I can't actually get into the db to make the
changes you're talking about. I get the error message, and have only the
option to click on 'OK' or 'Help'. Clickking on 'OK' give me a blank
database window.

Anyway, as far as I remember those options are already set.

This won't necessarily fix your problem, however it should allow you to at least access the database again. I've had many issues with Access blowing up on me and not allowing me access to my database. Simply create a new database and import in everything from the old one. Then just delete the old database and rename the new one to match. Just make sure that your tables are populated and all that. Sorry this doesn't address the problem, but it should work as a solution.

Hi again

Have you tried to create a new, blank database and importing all of the items
from the old database?

Creating a new db and importing into it was one of the first things I tried.
Got the same error mesage as soon as I start to import.

Good thing we've got backups I suppose.

Thanks anyway.
