Jet Database Engine Error

We have a database in Access that was created in an earlier version. It was
migrated to Access XP and has worked fine for the past several months. It
is accessed by a few users. Just yesterday, anytime someone tries to open
an object in the database, they get the following error:

"The Microsoft Jet Database engine stopped the process because you and
another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time."

Well, we have made sure that no one else is in the database, I checked for
an .LCK file to delete and a Compact/Repair was done to the database a few
times and it doesn't fix the problem. Any ideas? Technet is useless since
they've redone it and took away the ability to search by product and
version.

I received this same error with a database that was
created in Access 2000 with 2000 Operating System and XP
Operating System. I need an answer also. Hope someone
replies soon!!!!

This is not a corruption issue. Any other ideas?

The "lock files" for Access have LDB extensions, not LCK. Also, you may want
to follow the procedures here to check for corruption.

If you don't have a backup copy of your database, MAKE ONE. Things do go
wrong.

I actually meant .LDB, but I was thinking Lock. The symtoms I have are a
little different. To make matters worse, it is a secured database, but the
person who owns the database now never bothered to get the admin password so
I can't even go in and make changes to the database that the links below
suggest.
