hello all,
I found YouTube.com and when I try to watch a video the site tells me
-
"Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of
Macromedia's
Flash Player. Click here to get the latest flash player."
I did it twice, restarted, and nothing - this message is still there!
What should I do ?
TIA, Isaac

Do you have a version of java installed on your computer?

http://sdlc-esd.sun.com/ESD21/JSCDL/jdk/1.5.0_06-plus/jre-1_5_0_06-windows-i586-p.exe

If so, do you have it disabled in some way?

Isaac,

Is it enabled (checked) in: Control Panel > Internet Options > Advanced >
Java (Sun)?
Also, make sure various settings in the 'Multimedia' options are checked.

Also check that your Internet Option and your firewall aren't blocking
java and/or scripting.

Issac,

1. Make sure that the Flash Activex control is *not* set Kill-bit. Ref:
(http://windowsxp.mvps.org/noflash.htm) Follow the reverse of that article.

2. Add that website to IE Trusted sites list temporarily.

Hello,

First try turning off the pop-up blocker "IE6 browser", Tools - pop-up
blocker - click "off", if you have installed other blockers turn them "off".
If this does not work then the site wants you to turn off the "pop-up
blocker" and lower the security settings. Tools/Internet Options/security.
If you change the security settings, turn off the "pop-up blocker" and this
works remember to reset when you leave the site.
Your message indicates "JavaScript" is the problem not "Java".

take care.

The link you gave me requires a user name and PW (?)
However - I checked with
http://www.java.com/en/download/ins...icrosystems+Inc.&os=Windows+XP&os_version=5.1
(A similar site ?) and it gave me -
CONGRATULATIONS, you have the Latest version of Java!
So again, What now ???
10X again, Isaac
Perhaps Kurt doesn't know the difference between java and javascript?

Any other ideas ?
Isaac

Ramesh gave you a good hint, which I hope you tried

(In Internet Explorer)
Tools > Internet Options > Security > [Click on Trusted sites] > Sites..

Paste in the following link and click ok

I don't know about the origianl poster but your advice on checking if
my firewall was blocking Java worked for me. Now I just have to go to
Symantec and see what they say.

Thanks
