For MS JVM, select the checkbox for "JIT compiler" in:
Tools > Internet Options > Advanced
Then, in:
Tools > Internet Options > Security
set "Java permissions" to something other than Disable (in each zone, except
perhaps "Restricted sites").
If you are using the Sun JRE, open the "Java plug-in" applet in Control Panel
and ensure that Microsoft Internet Explorer is selected on the Browser tab.
