Java not loading

Hi
I keep getting this message when trying to load a webpage that requires java:

"Should, after a few seconds, the applet including the menu have not loaded,
please ensure that Java and Javascript is activated in your browser."

The Java icon pops up in the taskbar, but the page just says that it is
loading.

How can I fix this?
I checked the Java site but found no help.
