But if you wanted to be technical.
1. It is a "new version" (he didn't say newest)
2. It is the "newest" version in that it came out after the last of the 1.6
series.
So in a sense it is the newest but not the latest, no wait, that's not right
either ...

What the heck, never mind. Some of us need to use the 1.5 series so they
are still updating it.

Any way what kind of release is it, anybody know? Funtionality or Security?

Modem users what to know. Java updates are worse than Patch Tuesday.

Not exactly a new version; JRE 5.0 Update 11 was released in January.

Also, users who are already using JRE 6.0 (December 2006) do not need to
install any more 5.0 or earlier updates.

Nevertheless, when announcing a software update here, it would be useful
to specify a download link.
