Java enabled error

I have WIN XP Professional and the IE version is 6.0.
I am trying to open a crossword puzzle from the
www.timesofindia.com web site, whenI get a "You need Java
enabled to view the crossword applet" error. I have
enabled Java in internet and local intranet in Tools -
Security option. How to make the browser java enabled ?
Any inputs is appreciated
