Java applets won't load

Hello.

My mother had a bit of a problem with her computer and I
had to restore an old registry backup for it to get
online. I had to reinstall IE 6 since the old registry
thought that only up to IE 5 was installed, but I've kinda
run into a problem.

It doesn't matter what security settings I use, I can't
get any java applets to work. For example, if I were to
go to aim.com and try to load AIM Express, it would just
sit there. My java settings are currently set to low
security and have Java logging enabled. I am currently
unsure of anything else that I can possibly do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
