Yes, Sun Java has now updated to build 6.

For folks updating - please set your Browser to accept "cookies" -
otherwise the download *may* not be successful.

For those running Windows XP - you may safely remove the Java Update 10
from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, as it is no longer needed.

Also, one updated, the automatic update will be re-set, you may want to
change the automatic updates settings via Sun Java in Control Panel to [none]
since the automatic mechanism does *not* work.
This has been well researched and _is_ true. All you wind up with is an app
that polls in the background hogging system resources.

My Java icon in the Control Panel and the Java Installation Verification
site, both are showing that I have the the latest Java Runtime Environmental
(JRE) version in 1.5.0-09, now called JRE5. The new JRE 6 is out, shall I
install it or wait for the Installation Verification to offer and autoinstall
it? What do you think? Please help.

The Java autoupdate thingy is always a little late; the latest JRE 5 is
1.5.0-10 (not 09). If you want to take advantage of the JRE 6 features,
uninstall the previous JRE, then install JRE 6 from the download site.

I'd wait, myself. As long as there are no significant security issues with
the existing "5" versions, it won't hurt to wait.

I recommend a manual download and install since the auto-updater is terribly
unreliable if not unfunctional completely.

I've been having problems with Java 6. A few websites that use Java
to stream videos totally froze up my IE 7 and Firefox browsers. Firefox in
particular was hard hit at these sites. I had to restart my PC for Firefox
to function again. I uninstalled Java 6, and installed Java 5 update 10,
and now everything works fine.
