Japanese or Chinese Characters Suddenly Start Appearing

I have an application that suddenly, without any known action on my part,
started populating some text boxes on the main form, but not all, with
Japanese Kanji or Chinese characters. They never appear on the sub-form and
occasionally include English characters as the leading characters.

How do I stop this? I want it to be all English.

I've seen this happen when the database gets corrupt. try to compact and
repair the front-end and the back-end.

In this case compacting and repairing both the data and program modules did
not fix the problem.

Any other suggestions?

I believe this happens when more than one person edits a record at the same
time and the form isn't set up properly to prevent this.

The record is corrupt and will need to be deleted in order for the database
to run properly.
