January and February CTP freezes every second for 0.1 seconds

Did anyone had a similar problem with the current Vista build?
Vista freezes for approximately 0.1 seconds every second On my PC. The mouse
jumps when moving, even the harddisk pauses. This problem didn't appear with
any build before the January CTP.
I have already reported this behaviour to Microsoft, but I want to ask the
newsgroup just in case.

This could be due to a combination of things, unknown device driver failure,
I suggest you check the device manager to ensure all your devices are
installed and functioning properly. You might need a BIOS update too. Open
Control Panel > switch Classic View > double click Problem Reports and
Solutions > View Problem History > select a problem identified by Windows >
right click choose View Details, you should see information about which
device has failed. You might have multiple problems so check those also.

As Kevin noted, there was no January CTP Build for Windows Vista, only an
SDK update.

I found that service: "SSDP Discovery" could be a system resources killer ;)
Try to disable this service - it's help me

Oh it worked a treat for me as well. Also, I think www.chrisnt123.com posted
about this, but if you right click on Computer, select Properties, click on
Advanced System Settings and click the Performance "settings" button and
untick the "slide" relating options - that also helps a lot.

(haven't got a Vista machine to hand at the moment, preparing for the next
build - so I'm just going off my own memory ;o)

I have the same behavior and it is maddening. It is enough to where I
can honestly declare Vista unusable. I have tried the things suggeted
in this thread and others to no avail.

I am suspect of the WDDM driver supplied with Windows. The OS properly
picked my chipset of nVidia 6100 and installed the WDDM driver but it
reports there is only 64MB of video memory. This is a new box and when
I briefly had XP installed, it correctly reported 256MB of video memory.
Perhaps this is a clue but I have no idea how to resolve unless MS has
a newer driver to fix this problem.

I have seen this as well on a PC with an ATI X800XT Platinum Edition card. I
could make the problem going away by changing the cable from DVI to the
regular 9 pin display cable. I think this problem is a video driver
problem.
