In consecutive cells enter =CHAR(167) thru CHAR(17)
Format these cells with the Symbol font to see the card types

Hello:

There are lots of these kinds of symbols floating around. What they
kinds depends on the fonts you have installed. As an example I have
WP IconicSymbolsA installed. If I choose that as the font
and type ALt-0205 (on the keypad, not keyboard) the spade will appear.

To see what you have installed use the windows utility: charmap.exe

It should be in windows/system32 directory. Here is a link describing
it:

Can't imagine how you could do it with one or two keys.
If you were in the Symbol font AND you entered Alt+0169
you would get a spade symbol.

With Excel 2002 and up you can use the Insert menu , then Symbol ...,
then select font and character -- also not an inadvertent simply key
combination thing.

If you have turned on some accessibility options there might be other
ways. Or maybe you have a special keyboard layout for playing
board games (solitaire) <grin>.
