After installing windows 2000 professional on my computer which was running windows 98 my computer is not reconizing things. It does not reconize the internal modem, conexant softk56 data, fax pci modem, or my printer, or the quicklink III. I need to load up office 2003 but nothing seems to work. I've downloaded service pack SR-1a and then it says it could not load core files. I've downloaded service pack 3 and then it says the verison is not what was expected. I don't know what happened to service pak 6.
Please help!!!!!!!

Do a clean install of Windows 2000.

Also, you might have to go to the manufacturer's web site
for the modem and printer drivers.

Windows 2000 service packs only go to 4.

Win9x and Win2000 are radically different operating
systems. While an upgrade from one to the other is
possible, it is inadvisable, for the very reasons that
you now see. Start with a clean installation and you
will get a solid, robust operating system.
