Well the story goes by changing a hard Drive upgrading 40 to 80... I've
bought a new OS which is winXP: SP2 well my problem is all about my LAN Card.
I am using a CNet PRO200 Ethernet Card and a Wi-Fi as an Internet
connection, when I try to switch on my connection to the internet my LAN Card
fails to connect me and display a pop-up ballon which says "Limited or no
Connectivity.... All I have to do fix this is to uninstall my LAN Card via
Device
Manager and intall it again.... If it doesnt connect, I'll do the same
procedure
again.... But when I use my previous Hard Drive the LAN card operates
normally and connects me through the Internet..... My previous Hard Drive use
WinXP SP1.... I've did everything in my knowledge from removing the LAN Card
from the PCI Slot and placing it to updating the driver but still it remains
as my problem and thats the whole story..
My question is.... who might causing this problem... Is it the LAN Card or
the current OS that Im using which is winXP:SP2...
Pls do answer my question.......
Thanks in advance......

Hir Jerk :),

This is clearly not a problem with the LAN card. Its with the amount
of time taken by XP to obtain an IP address. give in a static IP address
192.168.1.1 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 to solve this problem.

Bye

If that address is used and the OP has a wireless router or DHCP server on
that standard address, connection will fail. Not knowing the exact
configuration of the wireless setup in the OPs location, a fixed IP address
on a computer should never be given a last octet address of 1 which is used
exclusively for the DHCP server (Gateway). Depending on the wireless setup,
the address may be anything from 2 to 254 without any problem (mine only
recognizes from 100 to 125 in the final octet of the IP address.)
