For the last few days I have not been able to use MS Outlook 2003.

I am able to receive and send emails.
It started with me being unable to see the mails in the reading pane. The
message in the reading pane read “ This item cannot be displayed in the
Reading Pane. Open the item to read its contents.
On double clicking the mail, the mail would not open and I would get a
dialogue box with the message “Can’t open this itemâ€.
At that time I could forward or reply to the mail by right clicking the mail
and selecting forward or reply. In the forward or reply, I would also read
the received mail and also open any attachments received with the mail.
However now, I am neither able to view the mail in the reading pane, nor
open the mail. When I try to forward or reply as before a dialogue box
opens with a message “Operation failedâ€.
I am able to view attachments by right clicking the mail and selecting view
attachment. I am even able to save the attachment.
I am able to open the calendar and the contact and view all the contents.
However, I am not able to save any changes or make additions.

My Pst file size is 3.2GB.

Please help me if there is any solution.

Have you checked your pst-file for errors already with scanpst.exe?

Yes, I have run Scanpst.exe and it detects errors but after repair it the
problem is as it is. Please suggest any alternate.

Do you get the same behavior in Outlook Safe Mode?
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe

When we run outlook in Safe mode then it shows header information only. i.e.
From:...

Today I tried to un-install Outlook 2003 and install Outlook 2007 then I am
able to view mails. Is there a file size problem as the size is 3.22 GB?

The size of the pst-file isn't an issue. UNICODE pst-files can grow to a
virtual unlimited size. By default they are limited to 20GB.

There must have been something wrong with your installation. A reinstall
would have fixed that but an upgrade of course as well ;-)

Hi,
I have re-installed MS Office and updated online for Office. Outlook started
normally and able to view mails but today again I faced the same problem i.e.
still not able to view mails. How it happended again? I do not know.
