Items in Reading Pane

For the last few days I have not been able to use MS Outlook 2003.

I am able to receive and send emails.
It started with me being unable to see the mails in the reading pane. The
message in the reading pane read “ This item cannot be displayed in the
Reading Pane. Open the item to read its contents.
On double clicking the mail, the mail would not open and I would get a
dialogue box with the message “Can’t open this itemâ€.
At that time I could forward or reply to the mail by right clicking the mail
and selecting forward or reply. In the forward or reply, I would also read
the received mail and also open any attachments received with the mail.
However now, I am neither able to view the mail in the reading pane, nor
open the mail. When I try to forward or reply as before a dialogue box
opens with a message “Operation failedâ€.
I am able to view attachments by right clicking the mail and selecting view
attachment. I am even able to save the attachment.
I am able to open the calendar and the contact and view all the contents.
However, I am not able to save any changes or make additions.

My Pst file size is 3.2GB.

Please help me if there is any solution.

Today I tried to un-install Outlook 2003 and install Outlook 2007 then I am
able to view mails. Is there a file size problem as the size is 3.22 GB?

The size of the pst-file isn't an issue. UNICODE pst-files can grow to a
virtual unlimited size. By default they are limited to 20GB.

There must have been something wrong with your installation. A reinstall
would have fixed that but an upgrade of course as well ;-)
