item_write not firing

I have a custom form in a public folder that uses an unbound listbox.

On Item_Write I save it in a field and reselect on open. This works great in most scenarios...where I cannot get it to work is if I just change the unbound listbox and hit Save and Close the Item_Write does not fire!!!!

I keep banging my head over this and can't figure out why...if I change another field and hit save it calls it fine.

Any help is appreciated.
