Is there a utility or registry hack that I can use to
make Auto Complete search my favourites folder and not
just the history folder?
Which OS? (Perhaps this is an OS-dependent feature.)
In NTx AutoSuggest (aka AutoComplete for web addresses)
*does* include Favorites, and Desktop items and some other things
as well as History items.
It doesn't list the contents of Favorite subfolders but what you can do
is navigate to them by typing the subfolder name, adding a backslash
and then you will be given a list of the Favorites in that subfolder.
(FWIW I just used Links to demonstrate that, e.g type L, press End
(or Tab and Backtab), and type \)
If that's not good enough I think that you could try first accessing
in a different manner a particular nested Favorite that you wanted
to access more directly. E.g. perhaps typing in the full path to the
nested Favorite would be enough to put it into either the TypedURLs
list or the History so that you could then find it in a first level search
by AutoComplete. Another way to find files included in History
(e.g. under My Computer) is to open them from an Explorer window.
(Etc.) Once they are there they should stay there as long as you keep
using them often enough.
