ISScript - What is it?

R

RJ

PC running XP Pro SP1.

I have ISScript listed in my Add/Remove Programs list in Control Panel.
It shows no disk space useage and when I try to remove it, it pops up a
Windows Installer window saying:

"The feature you are trying to install is on a CD ROM or other removeable media.
Insert the ISScript disk and click OK"
There is a "Use Feature From" drop down list with the number one (1) in it, at the
bottom of this window.

If I click OK, I get an error message saying it cannot find "1" (which makes sense).
But then ISScript disappears from the Add/Remove Programs list. Until I close
and reopen Add/Remove Programs. Then it is there again.

I also looked in the registry under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
and it is not listed there, even though it is in Add/Remove Programs.

Not sure what this is or where it came from. Anyone know what ISScript is?

It's the Install Shield. Try deleting all the files in your
windows\temp folder, and delete "wininit.ini" if it exists (probably in
your windows folder). Reboot and see if the problem went away. It sounds
like it's trying to finish and incomplete installation of something.
