My ISP address indicates that my PC is talking to itself
and not to the network(My provider told me).Currently, I
am running a lap top in that PC's network jack so I know
the jack is working properly. There are 3 PC's hooked up
to a router and all are online except that one. Any
ideas?

Operating system issues with winsock files perhaps. I
would guess you are using winXP. very common. could be
firewall perhaps. router perhaps. most deffinitely NOT
your ISP's problem. You can try isolating the PC to be the
only pc on the router, and try switching router ports. if
this does not seem to help, try bypassing your router
altogether and wire it directly up to your ISP's modem.
you may have to contact them in case you have a static IP
address. it will need to be put in the PC. If you do not
have a static IP from your ISP, then you should be able to
just wire it up straight to the ISP's modem and then see if
they can get some communication to your PC. like almost
all ISPs, they will not help you with your home network.
Because it makes it impossible for he ISP to troubleshoot
the PCs behind the router. too many variables to
accurately give you any help, it is not becuase they do not
want to help you, its because they cant.

I have switched ports and that did not help. I called my
computer's manufacturer and they told me I need to format
my hard drive! I am trying to avoid doing that. I
unistalled my network driver and reinstalled it and that
did not help.
