Hello,

Take a look here:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/top10faqs.htm

Scroll down to, and click on, 'Why does Windows XP Style change to
Windows Classic Style'
Suggest you check the Windows settings firts as they are listed,
before doing the download fix.

Luck!

thanks i am chekkin the websites now. oh and if u see UNCLE SAM---(display
name), tell him sorry

nothing helped so far but i can show u a picture of my desktop to show what i
exactly mean

Well, This were the steps given to me from the first link:
From Start, Run, type "msconfig" without the quotes. Click the expand button
lower right. You can then expand and extract to any location. Detailed
version:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type "msconfig" (without the quotation marks), and then
click OK.
3. Click Expand File.
4. In the "File to restore" box, type the name of the file that you want to
restore.
5. In the "Restore from" box, type the path to the Windows XP .cab file from
which you want to restore the file, or click
Browse From to locate the Windows XP .cab file.

NOTE: The Windows XP .cab files are stored in the I386 folder on the
Windows XP compact disc (CD).

6. In the "Save file in" box, type the path to which you want the new file
extracted, or click Browse To to locate the folder
that you want.
7. Click Expand.
8. In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click OK. If you are
prompted to restart the computer, click Restart

BUT I DONT GET STEPES 4 TO 6. 4 SAYS TO (type the name of the file that you
want to restore) {WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE FILE I WANT TO RESTORE
ANYWAYS???....} THE SAME GOES TO NUMBER 5 AND 6.

Hi Emad,

Are you saying that (under Display Properties, Appearance tab, Windows
and buttons), it stays the same whether you select "Windows Classic
style" or "Windows XP style"? Those are the only two changes for the
Task bar for XP unless you are using a 3rd party Theme or skins. Other
changes to the appearance won't change the style of the Task bar (other
than the color & fonts).

If not, please clarify,

Okay... what's your problem or question?

When I change my appearance into anything (example: Windows XP style), the
task bar somehow doesn't change any appearance. it stays as a classic
appearance. but, the dialog boxes look like an XP style. it is kind of hard
to explain. I can show you a picture of my desktop to give you a
demonstration if you like!

The frickin' taskbar does not CHANGE. Some of the colors may
change but that has nothing to do with either the classic mode
or XP style mode. If you want to change the effects rightclick
my computer/properties/advanced/performance...lots of settings
there for you to fool with.

Okay what you have maybe forgotten is that you clicked "Adjust for
best Performance" - this will not allow using the Windows XP color
graphics but only the classic style graphics.

Maybe someone else changed it. Here's where you go to restore the
SWindows XP look....

Click > Start (lower left) > Control Panel > System > Advanced >
Performance > Settings > and check "Let Windows Decide What is best
for My Computer.....

This will reactivate all the Windows XP graphics and look and
effects.

Go nack to Control Panel > Display and make sure you have checked
Windows XP Style and not Classic. It should be automatically set when
you check and save the Let Windows Decide option.

Did that do the trick ? If not you may have infection by a spyware
joke program. You will need to perform a full scan with antispyware
and antivirus. Don't use antispyware yet ? Try the freeware well known
and used Lavasoft Ad-Aware or free home SuperAntispyware. Install,
update, and scan.

Write back,..... solved ?

Nope it still didnt work. I already have antispyware, and anti-virus. Any
other suggestions on how I could fix this????!??

As a test, create a new user. Login to that account and test toggling
the Themes/Views to the settings you seek. If it works within the new
account then you've likely got profile issues/corruption in your original
day-to-day user account.
