ISASS.exe error message and the pc reboots.

D

DAVID ASHLEY

I have a problem with a missing or corrupt system file
and after following Microsoft Knowlege Base Article
307545 - How to restore a corrupted memory, it all looked
to good to be true and I now have an ISASS.exe system
error.

Now I seem to have an administrator password that I do
not know what it is. Every option under F8 goes to the
ISASS.exe error message and the pc reboots.

Can anyone help me with this please.

The only way I can think of at the moment is to put the
hard drive as a slave in another hard drive and run a
virus scan. If this does not work then to delete the
registry files by using windows when installed as a slave
drive.

Thank you.

David.

Sasser worm? Go to Start>Run and type the following: shutdown -a
That should stop the system from shutting down long enough for you to do a
Google search for the proper removal tools.

Hi Kevin,

Thank you for the reply but I cannot even get into
windows in the first place, as the message comes up
directly after the very first windows screen. I am also
locked out of all F8 options as its asking me for an
Administrator password which is unknown or has been
effected by the Virus.

Hi

I have the exact same problem - I could get into the
recovery console by using XP boot disks... but not sure
what to do now?

In normal operating the PC reboots itself after
displaying ISASS.EXE errors and the F8 options have an
unrecognised passwd.

What did you do? I have a lot of info on the laptop to
get back!
