is word 97 compatible with word 2007?

I am using Word 1997. If I buy a new pc with Word 2007 on it, will I still
be able to open my old files without any problems?
 
Yes, there should be no problem at all... And even if there is a problem
2007 is better equipped to fix the file than were prior versions.
