I am currently running Windows XP Professional x64 bit edition what edition
of Vista is the best.
Might be a stupid question, but can I switch to 32-bit?
I tried to run the 'windows Vista Upgrade advisor' but it says it isn't
compatible.

If you are currently running Windows XP x64, you cannot upgrade from that
version of Windows to Windows Vista. You would need to do a clean install.
However, if you own a legal copy of Windows XP, you can simply buy the
upgrade DVD of Vista and do a clean install with that (almost like installing
XP 32-bit and then upgrading without the hassle). Nevertheless, make sure you
DO own a copy of XP non 64-bit, otherwise, what I mentioned above would be
illegal.

If you have been putting up with the lack of drivers in XP x64, you may want
to try Vista x64 as I've found it to have much better driver support.
