is this file essential to windows?

There is a file on my pc that is being infected with a
virus and it is the winupdat.exe under the WINDOWS folder
as well as wuaumqr.exe in the WINDOWS/SYSTEM32 folder.
The virus' name is W32.Spybot.Worm . My virus software
(Norton AntiVirus) isnt able to do anything with these
items. I was wondering if these files are essential to
Windows ability to function properly. I am willing to
sacrifice Windows Update (I am assuming winupdat.exe is
relative to this). I will also get rid of wuaumqr.exe if
it isnt essential to Windows. If these are not essential
files, I will most likely delete them manually, unless I
am told otherwise. Thank you.
