Hi,

I recently noticed that on my xp pro workstation, the network indicators in
the systray for my ethernet interface are lit all the time. Performance
monitor reports about 1k of traffic per second.

I have closed down all the services that would close, and shut down explorer
and all systray programs so there was almost nothing left. the only programs
were (IIRC) winlogon, lsass, csrss and a couple of svchost.exe's but still
the network traffic was happening. Netstat reported no connections

anyonne know what this might be? - I have other xp pro machines and this
does not happen on them.

TIA

Andy

What scanning have you done for viruses and non-viral malware? What apps
did you use and did you perform your scans in Safe Mode?

You seem to have done everything except run a virus scan. Have you no anti
virus program installed?

Do you have a server? If so, its possible AD checking the PCs on the
network.
