Is this a valid copy of XP, or a pirate version?

I'm looking to buy a copy of Windows XP Pro from ebay. I see one
where the guy says he will be sending you a burned CD with VLK
activation. He claims it stands for Volume License Key, where you can
use the same key for multiple installations on different computers.
He claims it is 100% legal. Is it really a valid copy of Windows or
not?

Here is a link to the auction:

The seller copied part of the Wikipedia page on Volume License Keys. I
suggest you read the rest of it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volume_license_key

In short, it's not a legal copy.

Easiest way to check is by going to the microsoft downloads and try to
download something. The site checks genuinity of your windows while
downloading something.

The item has disappeared from eBay, which should also tell you something.
