Is there a way to cheaply audit desktops remotely from Win2k3?

I had to ask. I'm setting up a new domain and PDC for a non-profit and I'm
wanting to do a software/hardware audit of the 7 or so machines they have
without having to spend much time at the desktops. If I have to I'll visit
each one and check them out manually, but I thought I'd ask first if
there's something new with Win2k3 that makes remote auditing possibly, or
if we have to have SMS or some other software to do this.

Any help is appreciated.

I have over 40 servers and 1200 PC's in my orginization and I use a program called Net Support. This program will allow me to access any system I choose and also give me a complete inventory of the software and Hard on any system I log into remotely

Looks good. What's the cost, though? This is a non-profit, like I
mentioned earlier, so this is more of a "want" than a "need", you know.
Especially when ever dollar counts.

Hi

For a good tool for information gathering, you have AIDA32 (free):

http://aumha.org/freeware.htm

It can do automatic audit (e.g. using a logon script) via command-line
switches and save results to a file in various formats like HTML, CSV
or XML, or put it in a database (it has ADO/ODBC database support)
