Is there a way of viewing 2 documents in split view?

I am revising a document: I want to have the old one and the new one side by
side. Can I do that?
 
The simplest way would be to make a copy with a different name (in
Save As).

Have you tried Track Changes?
 
BTW "split view" usually refers to the ability to view two different
parts of a document simultaneously in the same window, above and
below. You click just above the uppermost arrow-button on the vertical
scroll bar and drag the split to where you want it, and adjust the
views in the two subwindows with the now two vertical scroll bars.
